changing faces

so i decided to make a change to my etsy shop today.  i changed the name and description as what i thought i was going to be doing it turned out to be very different that what i ended up doing.
instead of going more story based with each item, i am going much more random which feels more natural at this point.

look what i found

as i looked out my kitchen window i spied something i hadn't noticed before.  in the purple leaf plum at the end of my driveway, i noticed a nice little nest.  to my surprise as i went out to investigate there was a mother cardinal staring at me.

i stopped when i saw her but she still popped up and flew away.  she landed on a fence nearby and squawked at me.  don't worry momma bird i'm not going to mess with your ages. i'm just going to take a quick picture.

there done. bye future baby birds. thanks momma bird.

Mexican coke

Sometimes there's a drink that just hits the spot for you. For my wife its a Carmel macciato. For my father-in-law it's a glass of red wine. For me it's a Mexican coke, a glass bottle of coca-cola imported from Mexico. It has just a slightly different taste than coke in the u.s. and in a glass bottle it is so much better.

great hockey traditions

i can't say i am the biggest hockey fan around, but i do like the sport a lot.  having just watched the Boston bruins when the Stanley cup i have seen two of the great traditions that this sport has.  one is the post game team hand shakes.  in most other sports at the end of a game the teams would be ready to kill each other at the end of a championship game, but in hockey the two teams line up just like we had to as youth players in all sports and shake hands.
the other thing that i love is the tradition of the players not shaving and growing a beard during the playoffs.  it makes the guys in the final match look like beasts. it's awesome.
congrats Boston.

Pepper plant update

So my pepper plant has been growing and growing and the thought of going into the pepper business has come to mind.

The perfect garnish

Yesterday I went with my wife and her parents to a new restaurant for dinner. The restaurant specialized in Baltic cuisine, but the it didn't matter what you serve in opinion when you garnish it with meat. A meat garnish, simply awesome.

A growing experience

So a couple of months ago we planted a bunch of containers on our condo deck. It's our own city garden with herbs, vegetables and even a few fruits. I had bet my wife that at least 30% wouldn't make it because of the direct sun and just being in pots. I should know never to bet against my wife.

When we planted

And now

That can't be good.

I never use the front door at our house. It really only sees action at Halloween with trick-or-treaters and as a place for mailed packages to be left. I usually catch a glance of the front porch out one of the front room windows every couple of days to see if anythings been left there.

Well this morning I saw what can only be taken as a very bad sign at my door step. I looked out to find a dead bird laying on the porch. Ah today is going to be one of those days I think.

Unexpected X-ray

So I was finishing my business in the bathroom of the condo and saw what looked like an X-ray of a pair of lungs on the ceiling.

Apparently this is what light from a skylight reflecting off water in a toilet looks like. Human lungs. Interesting.

A second puppy

As the temperatures around here have been consistently above 90 degrees the past couple weeks, I decided to give my pooch a haircut to help him stay cool. No this is not the first haircut I've given him. I actually bought one of those old flo-bee haircutting systems which works great for his shih-tzu hair. I'm just wondering if I went a little too close this time as I was left enough hair for 2 or 3 more puppies. Ewwwwww.

i'm not a messy person...no really

as i started cleaning the house tonight i ran into a little problem in one area, my random art area.  i like to tinker and create and work on a bunch of things at the same time, but i'm not a messy person.  i am able to work in the chaos. it works for me, but you can be the judge.  and yes the rest of my house is in complete order, it's just this one little corner that seems to be an issue.
