Unhealthy?

With temperatures in the Richmond area reaching into the 100's yesterday and again today, I have started to hear another one of those phrases that I hate. Someone will come in and say how hot it is outside and then "it's just unhealthy to be outside today."

Well madam if you weren't so fat then perhaps the heat wouldn't be such a problem, and is it truly unhealthy. If my memory serves me correct there are people around our world whom live everyday in very high and low temperatures, so "unhealthy" isn't really caused by the temperature.

Old school

So last week when I was helping dad clean out his attic I spotted a blast from the past on the floor.

Q*bert! I couldn't find the game cartridge itself, just the old worn label remained. The games that we use to play now looking back seem so simple. Not that they weren't a blast, but these days they would be considered indie phone games. Video games have come a long way, but there was something about a classic and the quest for a high score that seems to have been lost. That's right I'm becoming an old fart right before my own eyes.

Moments

After spending yesterday morning helping my dad clean out my parent's attic, I've been thinking a lot this morning about moments. Not necessarily moments in my life that I regret, but just moments when choices were made. Those points in my life when I could have done something or said something different. I am not by nature a risk taker, and those moments I've been thinking of were not risk taking choices but they could have gone differently. What if I had stuck with soccer throughout high school instead of cycling. Did my mother have something to do with my beach week after high school? Would I be such a Disney world fan if during a trip to Miami with my buddy, I hadn't suggested making a stop on or way back north at wdw? I am a guy who always seems to recognize moments after they have past and choices no longer have the same meaning. I regret very few choices in my life, I just am recalling how many moments I had forgotten about in which a choice was made.

The one

This week has been a roller coaster and it's only wednesday night. Have decided to kick back on the porch and enjoy a fine cigar. Tomorrow I will go on a quest for one of my favorite films "Harvey" to help me remember one of my favorite quotes "in this world you can either be ooh so smart or ooh so pleasant. for many years I was smart. I recommend pleasant."

Street life

As I walked out of the condo this morning I found one of those items that you only see in the city.

At some point it must have been a great looking rubics cube cake. Now a just a pile.

Lost on lost

Just finished listening to Autopilot about "lost" and really want to go back and finish the show. I watched it all for the first 4 seasons then had trouble catching up and never made it back to the end. Well I know where my free time is going for a while.

By "now" we don't mean now

Was in a strip mall near the house which has one of those instant loan places. If you use them you may want to carefully read the agreement as words may not have the same meaning ad you think they do.

By "now" they don't mean now, they mean in the near future when you hike your broke butt somewhere else to get somebody to cash a check.

Move along david. You don't need to use them so don't say anything.

What buzzing?

Not the place I would chose to make a home unless I had plans on trying to have a child with three legs and webbed toes.

Hobby store find

Was at the hobby store for my wife to get some paints and found a goullotine model.

What I love about it though is the real chopping action.

Great fun for all ages.
