Laundry factoids

So I was just folding some laundry and it occurred to me that I have never imparted any of my laundry knowledge on you all. No time like the present.

-while the northern hemisphere is on a quest for whiter whites the Southern Hemisphere desires blacker blacks

-the king of Sweden once banned all laundry detergent for fear of bubbles in his briefs

-there is no proper ratio of laundry to detergent and anyone who tells you different is a fraud

-the first washer/dryer stackable combo was I stalled in the White House in 1978 and still operates to this day

-75% of men will admit to wearing dirty underwear to work while woman believe that number to be closer to 87%

-there are only 2 known cultures that do not wash their clothes

-before becoming president Chester Arthur did laundry for his neighbors for extra money

-the word "calgoning" for sexual attraction to laundry was coined by the podcast team of Scott Johnson and Brian Ibbott on their "morning stream" podcast.

-early ingredients of laundry detergents included lard, powdered beaver lung, corn silk, goat spit and magnesium pumgunate

-1/2 of all laundry is done after 11pm

-the word laundry comes from the French word "luandrioux" which means to beat furs against a rock

-companies that at one time made laundry detergent include bp, nabisco, Chevrolet and McDonalds.

-the world record for having the whitest whites is held by the pope Alexander VI
