This is our Christmas throw up tree, we throw a bunch of lights and other stuff up in it and call it a day. It's fun and looks like Marde gras. I put the lights in the tree onto a timer that should have turned on at dusk and then turned off in 8 hours, but instead at dusk the lights came on and then started to flash every 5 seconds. First I thought I overloaded the circuit. Nope. Did I have a flasher bulb on one of the strands of lights. Nope. Must be a bad timer unit, so off to lowes for a new one. Ended up buying the same multi-plug with turn on at dusk photo sensor. Got it all changed out during the day. Came home tonight and what do I see? A flashing tree! I go to the plug unit under the tree to change it to "on" and figure I'll just turn it off in the morning. As I kneeled down at the base of the tree with our plethora of lights shining brightly above me, it hit me. I was so stupid! There are so many bright white lights on the bottom of the tree that the photo sensor thinks it is daylight and shutting off, then it thinks the night has returned and turns itself back on. Every five seconds off then on then off then on..... Back to lowes for a plain clock based timer tomorrow.
