How far for a buck

Okay I don't mean to sound stuck up with this post, but what the heck it's my blog.

So as I tried to find a place park downtown near our condo today I was having no success. What I noticed was a large number of people with kids who were headed to the circus and taken up all the spots in the area. Now the arena where the circus is being held is 7 blocks from my condo and there are 5 parking decks within 1 block of the arena, but of course you have to pay for the decks. So what is the price that would be breaking point for you to walk about half a mile as oppose to spend a few bucks and walk across the street?

The deck right across from the arena entrance costs $5, and I payed that on a regular basis before I moved downtown. I never would give a thought to driving in larger and larger circles looking for a place to parallel park, blocks from where I needed to be and the hoof it. There are a number of older guys I know that don't pay to park based on the principle that there is always somewhere to park for free.

I don't know what do you think world? Do you pay to park and what is the most you would pay for it? Maybe I need to value money more.
