While my brother and myself were helping move some furniture at my dads house I spied what turns out to be a little bit of family history on his dresser. My dad was born in what is now Trieste, Italy, at the time it was its own independent city state. His mom was a local Italian girl and his dad an American soldier in the army stationed in Italy. I knew that my dad had come th the states when he was young but I had no idea he had been this young. The date on this would have made him just under 6 months old.
It's cool to think of my grandmother bringing her infant son across the Atlantic on a US naval ship. Glad I got a look at this before it got packed away again.
